Homework is an essential part of learning and develops students’
lifelong learning skills. Research has shown that regular and effective
homework accelerates students' progress while also promoting the
development of independent learning and organisational skills.
Homework provides opportunities for students to consolidate and apply
what they have learnt in the classroom and helps students prepare for
their next lessons. It also provides a valuable opportunity for
parents and carers to become involved in their child’s learning.
Agreeing to complete homework on time is part of the learning
contract students sign when they start at Duke and Duches of Cambridge Academy, and
parents/carers also sign to say they will support their children in
this.
Each homework is explained clearly,
with a date given for its completion, an estimated length of time that
the homework should take to complete, and all materials (resources or
web links) necessary to complete it successfully.
